Brinsop Court Wedding Photography, Herefordshire | Jess & Wayne
Jess and Wayne are just the loveliest couple: warm, down to earth, and they were completely themselves from start to finish. You could tell straight away how much their family and friends mean to them both; it was there in every hug, every burst of laughter and every moment they stopped to take in the people around them, and it made their day such a joy to be part of.
They married at Brinsop Court, a beautiful historic manor house tucked away in the Herefordshire countryside just outside Hereford. With its sandstone walls, oak-panelled rooms, library and gardens full of old trees and lily ponds, it's a venue that feels romantic and timeless the moment you arrive. On Saturday 19 September 2026, Jess and Wayne filled it with colour, music, fireworks and the people they love most.
The Little Details
Jess's dress from TDR Bridal was simple and elegant: smooth, structured satin with a sweeping skirt and train, and one sculptural rosette on the shoulder that gave it just the right amount of drama. The light pouring through the library windows that morning was gorgeous, soft and golden, and it caught every fold of the fabric.
Her shoes were delicate ivory heels finished with a fine edge of pearls, pretty and understated.
Her bouquet from May Rose Floral Designs was full of colour: dahlias and seasonal blooms in hot pink, coral, peach and orange. It set the tone for the whole day, and you'll see those colours again in the bridesmaids' dresses, the tables and the cake.
Bridal Prep at Brinsop Court
Jess got ready at Brinsop Court with her bridesmaids, all in matching pink and orange pyjamas, and the morning was exactly what you'd hope for: relaxed, chatty and full of laughter. Anwar from The Parlour did her hair and Katie Winter MUA did her make-up, and between the curls, the giggles and the bridesmaids being particularly cheeky out of the window, it was the loveliest start to the day.
Then came the dress. Jess was all smiles as she was fastened in by her lovely Mum, and it wasn't long before the flower girls, in white dresses with big bows at the back, were peeping round the door to see her. Seeing their daughter's face when she saw her mum all ready was such a sweet moment, and the cuddles that followed were so sweet.
Before heading down, we took a few minutes for portraits in the library. A little tip from experience: if you can, keep ten minutes free once you're dressed. It's often the only calm moment of the morning, and it gives you a chance to take it all in before the day really begins.
Wayne and the Groomsmen
Meanwhile, Wayne and his groomsmen were getting ready together, with plenty of helping each other with buttons and ties. It's always useful when someone knows how to tie a Windsor knot! Wayne wore a soft, sandy three-piece suit by Ozwald Boateng of Savile Row, and his sunglasses made more than one appearance during the day! Relaxed, stylish and very much Wayne.
Jess & Wayne opted to add on a second shooter for their day. This is such a great idea and gives a different perspective of the day as well as being able to capture both parties during the mornings preparations.
The Ceremony in the Astley Pergola at Brinsop Court
Jess and Wayne had planned to marry out on the lawn, but the day turned out to be very windy, and at one point it looked like rain was on its way. So, they made the call to move the ceremony under the Astley Pergola in the grounds at Brinsop Court, and it was absolutely the right decision. With lanterns overhead, chairs lined up and flowers down the aisle, it felt intimate and cosy while still opening straight out onto the gardens.
Their daughter and bridesmaids led the way before Jess walked down the aisle with her father, and Wayne's face when he saw her said it all. His nerves lifted (kind of!) and ready to marry his lovely Jess.
The two of them couldn't stop smiling as they held hands through the ceremony, with their family and friends gathered close around them. Then came their first kiss as a married couple, framed by their guests, and at that exact moment a watch was stopped by Jess's maid of honour. It was presented to Jess and Wayne later during the speeches, so they'll always be reminded of the moment their marriage became official. Such a thoughtful, personal touch.
Confetti and Drinks
The confetti line was so long! It stretched right across the gardens and showed just how many friends and family Jess and Wayne have around them. They walked out through a cloud of petals under a beautiful September blue sky, grinning from ear to ear.
Afterwards, guests enjoyed Pimm's on the lawn while we worked through the family photos, with plenty of laughter, catching up and hugs along the way.
The bridesmaids, in a gorgeous mix of fuchsia and blush pink, were brilliant fun. Jess had asked for a photo of them lifting Wayne, and the first attempt was, let's just say, an epic fail. It was hilarious and one of my favourite group shots of the day.
Couple Portraits at Brinsop Court
The grounds at Brinsop Court are a dream for portraits, with sweeping lawns, huge old trees, lily ponds and the warm sandstone of the manor house itself. We wandered through the gardens and around the courtyard, and their daughter joined them for a few by the water, full of giggles and cuddles.
My favourites are the simple ones: the two of them walking hand in hand past the old stone walls, laughing, and Jess's veil catching the breeze as Wayne pulled her in for a kiss. Portraits don't need to take long. Even fifteen or twenty minutes away together gives you a moment to breathe and just be with each other.
The Speeches and Wedding Breakfast in the Knot Barn
Speeches came first in the Knot Barn, from Jess's dad, the best men, the maid of honour and Wayne himself, and there was plenty of laughter around the top table. Watching Jess look up at Wayne while he spoke was lovely, and it was during the speeches that they were given the watch stopped at their first kiss.
The Knot Barn is all oak beams and tall windows looking out onto the gardens, so even inside the room still feels full of green. The Wedding House Droitwich and May Rose Floral Design helped to dress the tables with beautiful runners, flowers in fuchsia, peach and coral, with tall taper candles in red, blush and cream rising between them. It was colourful without being fussy, and it felt completely like Jess and Wayne.
The cake by Cara's Cakes was three tiers of softly textured white icing, dressed with fresh flowers in hot pink, peach and coral that tumbled down one side, and I can vouch that it tasted as good as it looked!
The Evening at Brinsop Court
When the evening came, Vivid Soul got everyone on their feet, starting with Jess and Wayne's first dance, played live by the band. It was joyful, fun and full of love, just like them.
Later, Sky Candy Fireworks lit up the sky over the lawn with fireworks, and Jess and Wayne watched together, arms wrapped around each other, while their guests looked on. If you're having fireworks, step to the front together for a few minutes. It's one of the few moments of the evening that's just the two of you. Wedding DJ Paul Bessent then took over on the decks, with King Konga on bongos and a sax player from Vivid Soul, and the dance floor stayed full until midnight.
Thank You
Jess and Wayne, thank you so much for having me as part of your day. It was colourful, relaxed and so full of love, and I hope these photographs bring it all back every time you look at them.
